Former Michigan Wolverines women’s basketball player Val Driscoll visited Quinnipiac last week to discuss attending the school as a graduate student, multiple sources confirmed to Q30 Sports.
Driscoll is a 6-foot-4 center from Stoughton, Mass., which is just more than two hours outside of the Quinnipiac campus. She played three seasons at Michigan, spending last season as the only senior on the team’s roster. The Wolverines finished seventh in the Big 10 this past season, sporting an 8-8 record.
During her senior year, Driscoll started 29 out of 34 games. Over that span, she averaged 5.8 points and rebounds per game. She also finished the season with 70 blocks, good for sixth all-time on the Michigan single-season blocks list.
If Driscoll were to commit, she would have one year of eligibility. She missed the entire 2012-2013 season with a knee injury that she sustained in offseason workouts. One source indicated that a commitment was likely, though Quinnipiac athletics could not comment on the situation.
Should Driscoll find herself in Hamden, it is likely she would fill in the slot vacated by the graduating Brittany McQuain. She would be the tallest player on the roster.
Quinnipiac finished fourth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2013-2014, falling to Marist College in the conference championship game in the final minutes. The team made the NCAA Tournament in 2013, representing the Northeast Conference.
