After a season where the Quinnipiac Bobcats went undefeated in conference play, their head coach takes home the Coach of the Year award for the 2017-18 season. The award is Tricia Fabbri’s third in just five years in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Fabbri has dominated the MAAC since joining in 2013-14. Quinnipiac has lost a mere seven conference games since the 2014-15 season and are 18-0 in MAAC play this season. That run has lead to two NCAA Tournament berths and a WNIT postseason victory under Fabbri’s tutelage.
This season has been a historic one for the leader of the Bobcats. In her 23rd season as head coach, Fabbri notched her 400 career victory against Siena on Feb. 11. The win placed Fabbri head and shoulders above her colleagues, as she became the first female coach to achieve that feat.
The Bobcats have been rolling and they’re currently ranked fifth in College insider’s mid-major poll. Quinnipiac has also received recognition from ESPN’s mid-major ranking as it was ranked third in an article released Feb. 21.
Since joining the conference, Quinnipiac has never missed the conference’s championship game. It has been a mainstay at the top of the conference standings and have won four straight regular season titles.
The award comes just a season after Quinnipiac reached its first ever Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
