The Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team sits at No. 4 in the country and first in the ECAC.
The Bobcats(14-1-3, 7-1-2 ECAC) have seen tremendous success under the new leadership of head coach Cassandra Turner. She preaches on having a strong defense and attributes the team’s hot start to its defensive efforts.
Senior captain Cydney Roesler leads Quinnipiac’s defense. With 11 points and 4 goals on the season, Roesler’s skills go far beyond the defensive basics.
Roesler believes being detail oriented on defense is what wins games for the Bobcats. As a veteran on this team, Roesler takes it into her own hands to instill the defensive culture in the players who are younger than her.
Quinnipiac has a long history of excellent goaltenders. Sydney Rossman is no exception. She has seven shutouts in the first half of the season and has stepped up to be the vocal leader that this team needs her to be. Her impressive play in net earned her ECAC goaltender of the month for the month of November.
Quinnipiac’s next game is against the Yale Bulldogs on New Years Day. This will be the fourth meeting between the two ECAC opponents this season.
