Father’s Day is coming up on June 18, so there are less than two weeks left to decide what to buy for the men in your life. Fathers, uncles and grandparents do so much for their kids and deserve to receive something in return, but it can be difficult to find the perfect gift that doesn’t break the bank. Here are some inexpensive gifts to give you some inspiration.
For the techy dad:
If you’re buying for someone who is always upgrading to the newest gadget, treat them to a stylish phone case that shows off their device. This case doubles as a mirror and wallet, which means that they are much less likely to leave the house without the essentials.
Plenty of parents are still children at heart who love to play just as much as their kids do. If you know someone like this, introduce them to virtual reality with this affordable headset. It’s cheap enough that you can buy an iTunes gift card to go along with it, so the recipient can download plenty of games to test it out with.
For the sports fanatic:
If your dad needs a little motivation, give him a book full of quotes from some of the most successful coaches in sports history. This travel-sized book is filled with over 100 pages of quotes about leadership, handling pressure and teamwork.
For the die-hard hockey fan, treat him to a novelty item that will bring the atmosphere of any NHL arena to your living room. This flashing goal light can play any team’s goal horn, and comes with a puck-shaped remote control.
Lastly, you can’t go wrong with merchandise that helps him support his favorite teams. A hat, jersey or mug would please any superfan, and could act as a good luck charm for the next time they’re in the playoffs.
For the fashion-forward dad:
Many parents love receiving new clothes, but hate the act of shopping for them. You can make their lives much easier by picking out a new outfit for them.
Every man could use a trendy button-up, and it’s easy to find them in a variety of patterns and colors. Old Navy and Urban Outfitters have plenty of button-ups in endless colors and patterns. Topman also has huge markdowns on trendy pieces.
Sometimes, the little things make all the difference. A watch that looks more expensive than it costs is the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. This Timex classic can keep anyone on schedule and on trend.
For the bookworm:
The Boys in the Boat tells the true story of the eight-man rowing team from University of Washington’s quest to bring home gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. It inspired a PBS documentary, so make sure he reads it quickly so you can watch it together.
Any jokester needs to read David Sedaris’ memoirs, and his latest release is sure to be hilarious. Theft by Finding is a compilation of the comedian’s diary entries from 1977-2002. His witty observations can instantly turn any mundane day into a memorable one.
For the dad who always brags about you on Facebook:
If your dad can’t stop telling everyone about your accomplishments, get him a gift that does the talking for him. Take to the Quinnipiac bookstore and get him a shirt or jacket that displays his school spirit. No matter how far away you are at school, he can keep a piece of Quinnipiac with him at home.
The summer months fly, so no matter what you get your dad, take this Father’s Day to cherish the time you can spend with the men in your life. After all, spending time together doesn’t cost a penny.
