1. Matt: Clarkson Andrew: Clarkson
Clarkson (13-1-2, 1-1-2 ECAC)
Matt: Clarkson has continued to take advantage of all of its offensive opportunities. While still ranked in the middle of the ECAC it still has the highest winning percentage of any ECAC team. It continues to show why its offense won’t fail them.
Andrew: Another solid week for Clarkson. It dominated Syracuse en route to a 5-1 victory, as well as a weekend sweep against UConn.
2. Matt: Harvard Andrew: Harvard
Harvard (5-1-1, 5-1-1 ECAC)
Matt: Harvard impressed me and that’s why it moved up a spot in my rankings. The Crimson scored seven goals this weekend, which shows that they are ready to put up big numbers against all of their opponents.
Andrew: After crushing Union and squeezing by RPI, the Crimson move past Quinnipiac for second in my rankings.
3. Matt: Quinnipiac Andrew: Quinnipiac
Quinnipiac (7-1-3, 3-1-2 ECAC)
Matt: Quinnipiac moved down one spot in my rankings due to its tie against Princeton on Friday. The Bobcats had a convincing win on Saturday over the Tigers. If they could’ve replicated that performance on Friday night they would be back in the No. 2 spot for me.
Andrew: The Bobcats should have swept the Tigers this weekend, simply going off of how strong they looked. But, their weekend ended 1-0-1 instead. Their inability to finish plays is not a good sign.
4. Matt: Princeton Andrew: Princeton
Princeton (5-2-1, 3-2-1 ECAC)
Matt: Princeton impressed me with their tie against Quinnipiac. But, the Tigers lost their composure in the second game of the home and home series.
Andrew: Princeton may have gone 0-1-1 this weekend against Quinnipiac, but the Bobcats are a very good team. The Tigers gave the Bobcats everything they could handle.
5. Matt: Dartmouth Andrew: Dartmouth
Dartmouth (4-2-2, 4-1-2 ECAC)
Matt: Dartmouth had a tough loss to Maine this past week and had a great offensive showing against RPI. But, weren’t very impressive in its game against Union this past weekend. The Big Green need to convert on more of their shots because they are putting a lot of shots on goal.
Andrew: The loss to Maine was not pretty. The weekend sweep against RPI and Union was.
6. Matt: St. Lawrence Andrew: Colgate
St Lawrence (6-6-1, 3-1-0 ECAC), Colgate (6-2-4, 0-1-3 ECAC)
Matt: St. Lawrence moved up one spot this week even though it didn’t play. I feel like the teams beneath them, such as RPI and Colgate, didn’t show me anything this week that would’ve put them at the No. 6 spot.
Andrew: Sweeping RIT must have felt nice. Colgate’s ability to score can earn it a win against any team in the ECAC too.
7. Matt: RPI Andrew: St. Lawrence
RPI (4-7-1, 2-3-1 ECAC)
Matt: Although moving up one spot might seem like RPI had a good performance, it didn’t. The Engineers need to be quicker on the ice and play a smarter game by focusing on details. Interested to see what this week brings.
Andrew: The Saints did not play this week. The off week can allow this team to regroup and get ready for a tough week against Princeton and Quinnipiac.
8. Matt: Colgate Andrew: Cornell
Cornell (2-4-1, 1-2-1 ECAC)
Matt: It will be interesting to see if the Raiders can make it any further up the totem pole or if they will stay in the lower half of my rankings the whole season. Colgate has only been able to score on weaker opponents.
Andrew: The win over Syracuse helped move them up, but it was a bigger help that RPI had a dreadful week.
9. Matt: Cornell Andrew: RPI
Matt: The Big Red was able to put the puck on the net, which led to many scoring opportunities. This propelled them to their 5-2 win against Syracuse.
Andrew: The close loss to Harvard was no moral victory a night after being outworked by Dartmouth.
10. Matt: Yale Andrew: Yale
Yale (1-4-1, 1-2-1 ECAC)
Matt: With an off week this past week, the Bulldogs couldn’t show me anything and that’s why I kept them at the bottom of my list. Unless Yale can show me some offense, it seems as if it will be hovering above Brown and Union this year.
Andrew: The off week had no effect on the Bulldogs. The upcoming weekend against No.3 Minnesota will have a bad effect.
11. Matt: Brown Andrew: Brown
Brown (1-6-0, 0-4-0 ECAC)
Matt: I decided to put Brown above Union this week because Brown showed me that they could score goals. Although it was against a weaker opponent, the Bears still had the offense.
Andrew: A win! Brown only played one game this week, but a 6-1 breakout win against Sacred Heart gets them out of the cellar. It helps that Union looked much worse this weekend.
12. Matt: Union Andrew: Union
Union (0-9-4, 0-4-2 ECAC)
Matt: Union continue to be at the bottom of my rankings. It was shut out in both of its games this weekend.
Andrew: It was an ugly weekend for Union. The Dutchwomen who were swept and shutout by Harvard and Dartmouth over the weekend. On the bright side, both games were away, and gave the home crowds a feast.
