These past two weekends, April 10-12 and 17-19, the 25th edition of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival occurred. The festival takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and is known for its wide variety of music genres as well as fashion and celebrity appearances.
This year’s headliners include well-known artists such as pop star Sabrina Carpenter and Latin pop artist Karol G. There were plenty of other artists who also performed at Coachella, including rock band The Strokes and rapper Young Thug. However, there was one last headliner that I have yet to mention, Justin Bieber. Coachella marks a major return to the stage for Bieber, his last major performance being at the Rock in Rio festival in 2022. His performance was one of the most anticipated of the festival, and many reports state that he drew the largest crowd.
Many attendees were also wondering what songs the artist would sing, considering he had sold all the rights to his music in 2023. Though he drew a big crowd, many fans were confused by his minimalist stage setup. The artist was by himself on stage with a microphone and a laptop. The laptop turned out to be key for performing his older songs that he had sold the rights to. Bieber first performed some songs from his newest album, “SWAG II (2025)”, before performing the classics. These songs consisted of hits like “Baby”, “Beauty and a Beat”, and “Never Say Never”.
For these classics, he brought his music videos up on YouTube on his laptop and sang along, which caused some disappointment from fans; however, since he sold the rights to those songs, it seems that was the only loophole he had to perform them. Bieber also brought out multiple top artists, including SZA, where they both performed “Snooze”, “Sweet Spot” with Sexxy Red, “Devotion” with Dijon, and lastly “As long as You love me” and “No Pressure” with Big Sean. Bieber also bought out Kid Laroi for his first weekend, where they performed their hit collaboration “Stay”.
Finally, one could say the biggest and most talked about moment was when Justin Bieber brought out Billie Eilish for his song “One Less Lonely Girl”. Billie Eilish was a huge Bieber fan when she was younger and clearly still is now, creating a very beautiful performance. What makes this moment nostalgic and special for fans of Bieber since the very beginning is that he used to perform this song and bring one girl onstage every time back in 2009-2010. Overall, the entire experience that Justin Bieber brought to Coachella has left not only every person in attendance, but online as well, calling Coachella Bieberchella.
