Taylor Swift has recently become part of a Hollywood legal dispute where private text messages between her and actress Blake Lively were revealed in court findings.
In 2024, Blake Lively accused “It Ends With Us” director Justin Baldoni of creating a hostile work environment and retaliating against her. Baldoni has denied the claims, and the lawsuit has since pulled Lively and Swift’s private texts in order to add context to the situation.
Swift is not directly involved in the situation, nor is she being accused of any wrongdoing; her messages are to serve solely as part of the discovery in the case centered on Lively and Baldoni.
Despite Swift’s limited connection to the case, the reveal of her private messages with Lively has conjured up quite the debate on social media.
Some of Swift’s text messages read: “I think this b*tch knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin,” and “If Justin was strategic/He would be like no Taylor Swift in the trailer…” (Edge Media Network, 2026)
Some argue that Swift is an undercover mean girl, while others argue that there is nothing wrong with supporting your friend through tough times.
One X user wrote, “Looks like Taylor Swift and Blake Lively were just nasty mean girls conspiring to take Justin Baldoni’s movie from him.” (India Times, 2026) Journalist, attorney, and media personality Megyn Kelly wrote, “They talk about how Taylor texted that Justin was a dope to allow her song to be used in the trailer… and the two little mean girls have a giggle about how dopey Justin was…” (The Wrap, 2026)
Although some of Swift’s text messages appear aggressive and vulgar towards Baldoni, some of her texts are clearly supportive and well-intentioned. For example, Swift wrote, “I’ll do anything for you!!!” and “And I know you feel attacked from all sides for ridiculous reasons, so you’re feeling like you have to overly explain things… but. it’s me!”( vogue.com, 2026)
Regardless of how the public feels about Swift after the leak of her private messages, it still stands that she is not directly involved in the situation. While some of Swift’s messages include sharp language aimed at Baldoni, many of them show her actively trying to reassure and support Lively during a stressful and complicated time. The texts suggest that Swift was primarily acting as a confidante, offering encouragement and advice rather than attempting to interfere with any professional decisions.
This release has sparked a major debate across the internet. As of right now, we are unsure of what these messages could mean for the lawsuit, if they truly mean anything at all.
Looking ahead, it is likely that more legal filings or unsealed documents could continue to surface. Each new release has the potential to pull major public figures into this public discourse.
Although Swift remains uninvolved in the legal claims, the attention on her texts demonstrates how celebrity status can amplify scrutiny, meaning that any additional messages, if made public, could once again draw widespread commentary and chaos.
