My goal is to stay at and review every resort on Walt Disney World property, and I recently stayed at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Pop Century is listed as one of Disney’s ‘value’ resorts, meaning it’s one of the cheapest, but still has the great amenities of staying on Walt Disney World property.
The resort is styled to different decades including the ‘1950s, ‘1960s, ‘1970s, ‘1980s and ‘1990s. Over the past several years, I’ve had the opportunity to stay in the ‘50s and the ‘80s buildings.
The ‘50s building is one of the best to be placed in because of its close proximity to the Classic Hall – also known as their lobby with a food court and shopping – and to the bus transportation.
The ‘80s and ‘90s buildings are the furthest away from the Classic Hall. Guests who purchase the standard room with no additional requests will most likely be placed in these rooms.
If you or your family don’t want to walk a longer distance after a tiring day at the park, I would suggest paying the extra $15 to $40 per night for a preferred room that will guarantee you a closer room to its lobby and transportation.
The Resort:
Over the past several years, Pop Century has gone through refurbishments to upgrade the guests’ experiences. The resort has just completed construction on their food court and shopping locations.
However, the rooms are still being refurbished through mid-February 2026. Rooms will still be available during this time but will be limited.
Pop Century has two modes of transportation: bus and Disney Skyliner. Bus transportation can be taken to Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park (with connecting transportation to Blizzard Beach Water Park) and Disney Springs (with connecting transportation to Typhoon Lagoon Water Park).
The Disney Skyliner will take guests to Caribbean Beach Resort with connecting transportation to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT.
There are three pools within this resort. The biggest pool is located near the Classic Hall between the two ‘60s buildings. Although none of the pools have a waterslide, the bigger pool has five flowers surrounding the pool that act as water jets and spray you with water.
The smaller pools are located by the ‘50s building and ‘90s building. Note that “hours and lifeguard availability vary by pool and are subject to change” according to the Walt Disney World website.
There are two locations for food and beverage: Everything POP Dining, which is their food court-style dining open on most days from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Petals Pool Bar which is open from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Everything POP Shopping, the store for all of your hotel souvenirs and essentials is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The Room:
As I said before, I have stayed at this resort twice – both on the first floor and in two different rooms (standard and preferred). The rooms are very similar – the only thing that sets them apart is the walking distance.
Each room either comes with one king bed or two queen beds. If you get a room with two queen beds, one of those beds will be folded up as a dining area. If you need the extra bed, you can pull it down and get rid of the dining area.
The room itself has a lot of storage space including drawers in the living/bedroom space, a closet entering the bathroom and multiple shelves within the bathroom area.
Extra pillows and blankets are also provided, as well as a small cooler and a coffee maker with tea and coffee. Housekeeping services are also available per your request.
Value resorts such as Pop Century are motel-style resorts, so it is important to keep in mind that these rooms will not feature a balcony and will have a view of the walkways.
As for every Walt Disney World resort hotel, check-in time is at 3 p.m. on the day you arrive and check-out time is at 11 a.m. on the day you depart. There is a possibility of your room being ready prior to check-in and you may request a late check-out, but there is no guarantee for either to happen.
