#That: Dueling piano bar opens in Hamden

Alex Taglieri, Entertainment Director

Have you ever wanted to travel back in time? Bugsy’s, a new 1920s-themed dueling piano bar in Hamden, lets you do just that.

This bar marks a return to owner Ari Gorfain’s roots, as he grew up in Hamden and has owned multiple bars in the area. He hopes to create a “Downtown Hamden” filled with bars and restaurants, and has put down roots on 2323 Whitney Ave to do so.

Guests at Bugsy’s can expect to be blown away by the impressive artwork, vintage decor, and of course, the music. But don’t plan to hear any of today’s hits: that bar hardly plays any songs recorded after the turn of the century.

Gorfain describes the bar as “an adult Disneyworld,” and with its transportive atmosphere and throwback singalongs, the description is a perfect fit. To hear the piano show for yourself, head down Whitney Avenue every Friday and Saturday night, starting at 6:30 p.m.
