Q30 Newscast: Campus Construction Updates, SGA Election Results and Hispanic Heritage Month

On this week’s newscast, Tim Malone and Isabella Foley are on the main desk to start the show.

Katie Coen has all the updates on the construction around campus, with information on South Quad and the Recreation Center’s opening date. From the desk, Isabella shares the results from this fall’s Student Government Association elections including the newly elected senators for each class, and a brief recap of this year’s Bobcat Weekend. 

Tim gives updates on the first discussion in the Critical Conversations series with Vice President for Equity, Inclusion and Leadership Development Don Sawyer where guest speaker Mónica Guzmán discussed her book, “I Never Thought of It That Way.”

Santino Maione is in the studio to give a seven-day weather forecast. Olivia Kettell spoke with members of the Quinnipiac community including Don Sawyer, professor of modern languages Luis Arata and Vice President of the Latino Cultural Society Genesis Paulino to shed light on Hispanic Heritage Month and its importance. 

Alex Kendall also joins us to share national news including updates on the migrants who arrived in Martha’s Vineyard, Hurricane Fiona’s impact in Puerto Rico and the first female pilot in the National Guard. Closing the show, Liz Ippolito makes her Newscast debut to give an entertainment news update on the new Whitney Houston biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” as well as the upcoming “Joker” movie featuring Lady Gaga.
