Students, faculty and staff received sad news in their emails from President Olian yesterday regarding a member of the Quinnipiac community.

In the email, Olian informed the recipients about the passing of third-year graduate student in the Doctor of Nursing Practice – nurse anesthesia program, Erica Seaman.

Olian shared some of Seaman’s accomplishments. She grew up in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York and attended Seton Hall University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. She was a critical care nurse at Stony Brook Medicine before she was accepted to Quinnipiac. In 2018, she was recognized as the recipient of the Integrated Anesthesia Associates scholarship for the nurse anesthesia program. She also received a position with Integrated Anesthesia Associates. She planned to begin working at Hartford Hospital in her CRNA position after Commencement.

“This is a terrible loss for Erica’s family and friends, for her fellow students, and for our community,” President Olian said in the email. “My heart goes out to all in this time of deep sorrow.”

The university is offering support services to students, faculty and staff. Students can contact Counseling Services at 203-582-8680, and faculty and staff can reach the Employee Assistance Program, e4health, at 800-828-6025.

Once the service arrangements are made public, they will be shared on MyQ.
