After taking pre-arrival COVID-19 tests for the fall semester, students returning to campus for the spring semester will again be required to take another test before arriving.

Quinnipiac switched lab partners to Quest Diagnostics to help reduce the cost for returning students. The testing kits will cost $95, which will be billed to the student’s Bursar account.

Much like the previous test, students will take a non-invasive nasal swab test, but will not meet with a physician over video chat. Once the testing kits are ordered, it will arrive by mail at the address given.

Who needs the pre-arrival testing?

All students —undergraduate and graduate— planning on taking classes or living on campus must take the Quest Diagnostics COVID-19 test before returning. Students will not be cleared to move into their housing or access any of the campuses unless the test is submitted.

Any students enrolled in degree programs that are fully remote or have been approved to take all courses online will not have to take a test in order to attend classes.

Students who have had a positive test result after October 15, are not required to take the test but must submit their results to Student Health Services.

Testing will look different for international students and the basketball and hockey programs. Those students will be contacted aside from the original email.

Testing kits should be ordered immediately, but the test must not be taken until Quinnipiac advises students to do so. An email from the university will be sent in January giving a specific timeframe in which students must take the test.

The results will be available in Quest’s MyQuest portal. A copy of the test results will automatically be sent to Student Health Services. If a result comes back positive, the student will receive a phone call from one of Quest’s physicians.

Residential Life will also send an email to students in early January about return-to-campus dates.

To students who wish to take a PCR test not supplied by Quest Diagnostics, students must fill out an Opt-out form by January 11, 2021. Only PCR tests will be accepted, not rapid or antigen tests.

Test results should be submitted at least 48 hours before arriving on campus through the patient portal. The results will be reviewed and approved. If the test comes back positive, students will not be allowed back on campus.

Once back on campus, Quinnipiac will test students twice by the end of the first week of in-person classes. The university will also continue to randomly select students weekly to perform tests throughout the semester.

Q-cards will not be activated until the pre-arrival test is completed. For more questions, students can email [email protected].
