After four years at Quinnipiac University, the last of which he served as captain, former men’s basketball guard Zaid Hearst will be moving on to play professionally this summer.

Hearst released an Instagram post Monday night, confirming he had signed a contract with André Buck, founder of Arete Sports Agency. According to Buck’s website, he represents “four first round picks as well as one lottery pick, four second round picks, and six players who have made the NBA as free agents,” including P.J. Tucker of the Phoenix Suns.

He said:

“April.27.2015 The day I went from being a college basketball player to a professional basketball player. All of the shots I missed, made, all of the wins, losses, and all the friends, family, coaches, doubters, etc. that helped me get to this point, I can’t thank you all enough for being there for me and helping me get to this point. Thank you! God is great!”

The entire post can be seen below:

“I am very proud of, and excited for, Zaid Hearst on his signing with André Buck and his Arete Sports Agency,” Hearst’s former coach at Quinnipiac, Tom Moore, said. “It is an exciting time for Zaid and his family and I feel comfortable that he is in good hands as he begins his career in professional basketball.”

The Bethesda, Maryland-native averaged 12.9 points per game in his four years at Quinnipiac, alongside more than 30 minutes per contest. He never missed a game in his collegiate career, playing 125 in total.

In his final season at Quinnipiac, Hearst was named First Team All-MAAC. Quinnipiac would ultimately fall to the Marist Red Foxes in the opening round of the MAAC Tournament. His season started off in electric fashion, when he dropped a career-high 34 points against Yale.

Hearst will graduate in May, and told Q30 Sports he will then find out if he will play in Spain, Italy, France, Greece or the NBA. Several former Quinnipiac players have gone on to play internationally in the past few seasons, including James Johnson, Ike Azotam, Justin Rutty and James Feldeine among others.
