The Quinnipiac Bobcats dominated on the court against the Siena Saints on Friday, Jan. 25 for College Experience Day. After today’s 68-31 win, Quinnipiac remained undefeated in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a record of 7-0. This was also the Bobcats 38thconsecutive win in MAAC play and win number 15 in a row this season.

Quinnipiac started slow, scoring just eight points in the first quarter but had fire under their feet and great defense when it came to the second quarter.

“They (Quinnipiac) employ a tremendous amount of intelligence, pride, athleticism, and team into how we are going to take away what they are going to run and they know what is coming,” Quinnipiac head coach Tricia Fabbri said. “Our pressure allows scout prep and their talents and team just like they do on offense. They take away what is coming and it just speeds up or pushes the team to just miss shots.”

The Bobcats held the Saints to only 31 points one three-pointer in the entire game.

“Maddie Sims is an all-league performer,” Fabbri said. ”Just had a rough night tonight and we made nothing easy for her when the ball was trying to go in and we were able to rebound and run.”

Sims was held to six points this afternoon and has averaged 13.5 points a game this season.

Quinnipiac held Siena to only two points in the first quarter, the least they have held a team to since Marist in 2017. The Bobcats held the Red Foxes to only one point in the second quarter, back on February 23 in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Schools from all around the Connecticut area came down to Lender Court, giving the Quinnipiac women’s basketball team an attendance record of over 3,000. The crowd noise from the school children encouraged the Bobcats with their matinee win as junior forward Paige Warfel recorded her first career double-double.

“It’s super exciting,” Warfel said. “I feel like I have right there a couple times and finally got that extra rebound so that is super exciting.”

Both she and senior Aryn McClure recorded 14 points against the Saints while Warfel added 10 rebounds for her double-double. The only other teammate this season to record a double-double is forward Jen Fay.

With the win this afternoon, Quinnipiac is headed to Iona College this Sunday to take on the Gaels in New Rochelle, New York. The Bobcats look to stay undefeated in the MAAC and earn their 39thwin in conference play.
