Following last week’s move to censure Chris Montalvo, the sophomore class president is now being impeached. The student government association now has two members facing the impeachment process.
During their November 1st meeting, senior representative Ali Munshi asked that SGA move to create a committee that would recommend Montalvo’s punishment should he not face repercussions for his actions. According to Munshi, the committee would be formed with members and nonmembers of SGA.
According to Munshi, the committee would be formed with members and nonmembers of SGA.
In the meeting, members voiced concern that it would be unnecessary and problematic to have a committee for one member when they did not create one for, Helen Dong, a sophomore class representative who is also going through the impeachment process.
Dong is facing impeachment for allegedly taking down a flag during the international business dinner on Oct 23, 2017.
While SGA did not create a committee they will be looking at different ways to tackle conversations on diversity and multiculturalism in the coming weeks.
