It’s that time of year again, houses are decorated with lights, presents wrapped up nicely, and of course, there are a thousand shows on TV, most of which show a holiday episode. Whether it be new to this year or a rerun of an episode from previous years, these shows are bound to get you into the holiday spirit.
#1. The Simpsons – Season 36, Episodes 10 and 11
“The Simpsons” is one of my favorite shows of all time, and some of my favorite episodes are the Halloween and holiday episodes. So, it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t put this two-part holiday special on the list. The episode followed a British hypnotist who couldn’t believe how boring Springfield was during the holidays and did his best to bring Christmas cheer to the town.
#2. Even Stevens – Season 1 Episode 15.
It’s Chanukkah in the early 2000s, and Louis is trying to find where his parents hid the presents. However, he accidentally throws them out the second-story window. His family got so annoyed and angry at him that he wished he was never born. The episode is pretty much a Jewish version of the old movie “Its a Wonderful Life,” which is a classic movie.
#3. Sabrina the Teenage Witch – Season 2 Episode 11
When Sabrina has ‘egotitis,’ her aunts call Bob from the other realm to help cure her. It turns out that Bob is really Santa, and she panics when she learns it is him. Now, Santa is injured and can’t deliver the presents on Christmas. So, Sabrina and her black cat Salem fill in to deliver presents and cure her ‘egotitis’ by working with Santa to deliver presents to kids around the world.
#4. The O.C. – Season 1 Episode 13
Do you celebrate both Christmas and Chanukkah? Then I’d like to introduce you to the amazing holiday of Christmukkah. Adam Brody grew up with a Jewish dad and a Christian mom and celebrates both Christmas and Chanukkah. Why choose one when you can choose both? It’s great, eight nights of presents followed by a day of many presents. What kid doesn’t want that? Christmukkah was such a big part of the show that it had an episode that aired in all four seasons.
#5. Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!
Alright, while not technically an episode of the show. This Disney Channel Original is a favorite. When Teddy wants to go away with Ivy over spring break, Bob makes a deal with her that if she can be an adult and buy the ticket on her own, she can go. However, when their flight to Palm Springs is overbooked, they ask a passenger to get off the plane in exchange for a free ticket. Teddy gets off the plane, and Amy follows her, because who is going to let their 16-year-old get off the plane themselves? This leads to a series of events that lead to the two of them almost missing Christmas, but they get there just in time to celebrate the holiday.
Do you have any other festive TV episodes that help you get in the holiday spirit? Let me know on Instagram in my new post @eidanwexlermedia, as well as if you have any shows you would like me to review. But for now, happy holidays, and have a great new year!
